What is Ceylo?

Ceylo is a Windows application that turns speech into text on your own computer. You hold a hotkey, talk, and Ceylo types clean, punctuated text wherever your cursor already is: email, chat, documents, code editors, even old software. Ceylo also records and transcribes meetings. The speech model runs on your machine, so audio and transcripts are never uploaded.

How do you start voice typing with Ceylo?

Ceylo takes three steps and about a minute. Run the installer: there is no account and no sign-up. Pick a speech model inside the app and download it once; that one file covers all 51 languages. Then click anywhere you would type, hold your hotkey, say the sentence, and let go. Ceylo types the text where the cursor is.

Which Windows versions does Ceylo run on?

Ceylo runs on Windows 10/11, 64-bit. There is no macOS build, no Linux build, no web version and no phone app, and none is announced. The installer is about 55 MB and the speech model downloads inside the app afterwards, so what you download from this site stays small. The current release is version 1.5.0.

Does Ceylo work offline?

Ceylo transcribes fully offline. After the one-time speech model download, Ceylo keeps working with the network cable unplugged, in all 51 languages, with no drop in quality. Ceylo still reaches the network when it can, to check for updates and to keep the trial and free-plan counts honest. Nothing it sends carries audio or text, and every call fails quietly when there is no connection.

Does Ceylo upload my audio or my transcripts?

Ceylo never uploads your audio or your transcripts. The speech model runs on your own hardware, and every recording, transcript, summary and export stays in a file on your PC. Ceylo has no account system, so there is nothing to log into and no profile of you on our side. We could not read your transcripts if we wanted to.

What does Ceylo send to your servers?

Ceylo sends what it needs to fetch a speech model, check for updates, and keep licensing honest: an anonymous one-way code for your computer, your trial and free-plan counts, and, when you activate a paid key, the key itself and the name Windows gives your PC. Ceylo never sends audio, transcripts, or anything you dictate. The Privacy page keeps the full list.

Why does Ceylo send an anonymous code for my computer?

The anonymous code lets Ceylo count the free plan's monthly dictations without knowing who you are. It is a one-way hash of an identifier Windows already generates, so it cannot be turned back into anything about you or your machine, and it matches nothing any other product computes. It exists so a trial cannot be restarted endlessly by reinstalling. If it cannot be sent, Ceylo carries on anyway.

How much does Ceylo cost?

Ceylo costs nothing to start: the free plan includes 15 dictations a month, no time limit, with no card and no account. Ceylo Pro removes that limit and adds meetings and file transcription, for $8 a month, $79 a year, or $149 as a one-time purchase. Every new install starts with a 14-day trial that unlocks everything, and one paid license covers three computers.

What is the difference between the free plan and Ceylo Pro?

The Ceylo free plan gives you Voice Typing in every app, all 51 languages, all six Domain Packs, your library and your exports, capped at 15 dictations a month, no time limit. Ceylo Pro lifts the cap, adds meeting recording and transcripts, and transcribes audio and video files you already have. Nothing you already recorded is locked when a trial or a subscription ends; it stays readable and exportable.

Do I need an account to use Ceylo?

Ceylo needs no account. There is no sign-up, no password, no email address and no profile: you install the app and start talking. Buying Pro produces a license key, which the app checks against our server. On every plan, including the free one, Ceylo also sends an anonymous code for your computer with your trial and free-plan counts, so the allowance cannot be reset by reinstalling.

How do I use my voice instead of typing on Windows?

Ceylo replaces typing with a hotkey in four steps. Install Ceylo, download one speech model inside the app, put your cursor in the window you want text to land in, then hold your hotkey and say the sentence. Releasing the key ends the dictation and Ceylo types the text into that window. Nothing needs to be pasted.

How do I turn voice typing off?

Ceylo only listens while you hold your hotkey, or between two taps in toggle mode, so it is off the rest of the time. To stop it completely, open the Ceylo icon's menu in the Windows tray and choose Quit. Closing the window is not enough on its own: Ceylo is tray-resident, so the X hides the window and leaves the app running.

How is Ceylo different from the voice typing built into Windows?

Windows voice typing (Win+H) is free and built in, but it leans on online services and stops at dictation. Ceylo runs offline on your own PC, covers 51 languages with auto-detect, filters out silence instead of inventing words, transcribes both sides of a meeting on labeled tracks, and learns your field's vocabulary. Ceylo is a paid app with a free plan; Win+H is free.

How does Ceylo compare to built-in and cloud dictation?

Ceylo transcribes fully offline and keeps every recording on your own PC. Windows' built-in dictation is free but leans on online services and stops at dictation. Cloud dictation apps send your audio to someone else's server and are billed by subscription. Which languages does Ceylo support?

Ceylo supports 51 languages: 50 named languages plus auto-detect, which picks the language rather than asking you to. The list includes English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. One speech model covers all of them, so changing language needs no menu. For a few languages Ceylo also offers a model trained specifically for that language, and suggests it when you choose the language.

Can Ceylo transcribe Google Meet, Zoom and Teams calls?

Ceylo transcribes any call that plays through your PC, which covers Google Meet, Zoom and Teams. Ceylo listens to your microphone and to your computer's own audio output, so it needs no plugin inside the meeting app and works the same in all of them. Meeting recording and transcripts are part of Ceylo Pro rather than the free plan.

Does a bot join my meeting when Ceylo records it?

No bot joins. Ceylo records from your own computer's audio, so nothing is added to the call and nothing appears in the participant list: the other side sees the meeting exactly as they would without Ceylo. Recording law differs by country and situation, so telling people you are recording remains your responsibility, not the app's.

Can Ceylo convert an existing voice recording to text?

Ceylo transcribes a voice recording you already have. Pick an audio or video file from your PC and Ceylo converts it and transcribes it on your own machine, then keeps the transcript in your library under Files, with the same exports as a meeting. It runs in the background, so you can carry on dictating while it works, and a file with no speech in it is refused rather than saved. Transcribing a file is part of Ceylo Pro.

Will Ceylo type into any app?

Ceylo types anywhere Windows lets you place a cursor: Office documents, browsers, IDEs, chat apps, terminal windows, form fields and legacy tools. Ceylo sends text to whichever window has focus rather than to a box of its own, so there is nothing to copy and nothing to switch to. The floating capsule that shows Ceylo is listening never takes focus away.

How accurate is Ceylo, and can I teach it my vocabulary?

Ceylo's accuracy depends on your microphone, the room, the language and the speech model you pick, and no transcription is perfect. Three things are yours to tune: six Domain Packs load the vocabulary of a field such as legal, medical, software or finance; My Terms holds the names and jargon you actually say; and a one-line context sentence tells the model what you work on.

Where are my Ceylo transcripts saved?

Ceylo keeps every dictation and meeting in a library inside the app, on your own disk. Exports are plain text files written to a folder you choose, and if you point Ceylo at an Obsidian vault, every meeting mirrors there as Markdown with the speaker labels intact. No transcript or recording is ever stored on our servers, and your library stays readable and exportable on the free plan.

How many computers does one Ceylo license cover?

One paid Ceylo license covers three computers you use. Activations are yours to move: you can release a computer to free the slot, then activate the license on a replacement machine. Releasing is done from one of your other devices, not from the machine being released, and you can also release a computer from your account page at ceylo.live/account/. The license is personal and non-transferable.

Can I get a refund on Ceylo?

Write to us within 14 days of buying Ceylo and we refund it, back to your original payment method. There is no form and no interrogation; one line about what went wrong helps us, but it is not a condition. Cancelling a subscription stops the next charge and you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.

Why does Windows say Ceylo is an unrecognized app?

Ceylo is not signed with a paid publisher certificate yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a blue or purple "unrecognized app" screen the first time you run the installer. Click More info, then Run anyway. Nothing is wrong with the file: the warning is about the certificate, not about the software, and it stops once Ceylo is signed.

How do Ceylo updates work?

Ceylo checks for a new version and installs it over the old one with your approval. An update never re-downloads your speech models, so the gigabytes already on disk stay put and the update itself is a small file. Your library, your settings and your license survive an update untouched. The one-time plan includes every update in the 1.x series.
