Will the free plan be enough for me?
Ceylo's free plan includes 15 dictations a month, no time limit, which works out at one every 2 days spread evenly. Ceylo spends one dictation on a long paragraph and one on a two word reply, and an attempt that produced nothing costs nothing. If you dictate most of what you write, you will run out in the first week and Pro is the answer. If you use it for the occasional long message, it may be all you ever need.
What happens when the trial or a subscription ends?
Ceylo never locks what you already recorded. Every install starts with 14 days of everything unlocked; when that ends, Ceylo keeps working on the free plan, and the same holds if a Pro subscription lapses. The plan decides how much new work you can do, never whether you can reach the old work.

Is there a way to pay once instead of subscribing?
Ceylo Pro costs $8 a month, $79 a year, or $149 as a one-time purchase. At the monthly rate, the one-time price is about 19 months of Pro. It includes every update in the 1.x series and covers three computers, the same as the subscription does. If a major new version ever ships, upgrading is a choice rather than a bill, and nothing you already bought turns off.

How private is dictating on my own computer?
Ceylo transcribes on your machine, so the message you would not put through a web service is never uploaded, and there is no account holding a history of what you said. Ceylo does reach the network to fetch a speech model, check for updates and keep the free plan's monthly count honest, and none of that carries audio or text. The Privacy page keeps the full list.
Reasons not to install Ceylo
Four honest ones, so the download is not a surprise:
- The free allowance is genuinely small if you dictate every day. The free plan is a way to keep Ceylo, not a way to use it constantly.
- Meetings are a Pro feature, so the free plan covers dictation and nothing else.
- The installer is small, about 55 MB, but the speech model is a second download inside the app, about 1.6 GB for the recommended one. On a metered connection that is worth knowing first.
- Ceylo runs on Windows 10 and 11 only, so a Mac, a phone or a Chromebook is out.
