What is new in Ceylo 1.5.0?

Ceylo 1.5.0 was published on 2026-09-06. It adds a third card to the home screen, "Transcribe a file", beside Voice Typing and Meeting.

Pick an audio or video file that is already on your computer. Ceylo converts it and transcribes it on the device, and nothing leaves the machine. The result lands in the Library under a new "Files" tab, with the same transcript view, the same exports and the same "Open file" as a meeting.

The job runs in the background with a progress line and a Stop button, and Voice Typing keeps working while it runs. A file with no speech in it says so and saves nothing. Transcribing a file is part of Ceylo Pro.

What is new in Ceylo 1.4.4?

Ceylo 1.4.4 was published on 2026-09-03. It is a quiet maintenance release: nothing changes in how you use Ceylo.

Under the hood the app tightens the rules that decide what its own screens are allowed to load, closing a few small doors that were never open in practice. Updated components from a fresh dependency review come along for the ride.

What is new in Ceylo 1.4.3?

Ceylo 1.4.3 was published on 2026-08-24 with one addition: your account, one click from the app.

Ceylo now has an account page. Sign in with the email you bought with and you can see your plan, your license key, the computers using it and your receipts, release a computer to free its slot, and cancel a subscription. No password to remember: we send a one-time link to your email.

From this version the app skips even that. The Account screen has an Open my account button that opens the page in your browser already signed in, because an activated install has already proven who it belongs to. If anything is unavailable the page still opens, just signed out.

What is new in Ceylo 1.4.2?

Ceylo 1.4.2 was published on 2026-08-20 with one fix for meeting transcription.

On long recordings, the final transcript could get stuck repeating a single phrase, and the minutes it repeated over were lost. Each half minute of a meeting is now transcribed fresh, the repetitions are gone, and the lost minutes come back. Regular dictation is unchanged. Take the update when it is offered.

What is new in Ceylo 1.4.1?

Ceylo 1.4.1 was published on 2026-08-19, a few hours after 1.4.0, with small fixes and improvements in the interface.

The model list in Settings now matches the Models page, a language change offers the model it needs, the meeting summary no longer shows a generic placeholder text, and a few stale sentences are gone. Take the update when it is offered.

What is new in Ceylo 1.4.0?

Ceylo 1.4.0 was published on 2026-08-19. Ceylo now picks the speech model for you, from the language you dictate in and the hardware in your PC, and the Models page stops asking you to choose between nine look-alike rows.

At setup Ceylo asks one question it never asked before: which language do you speak? The answer is suggested from your Windows display language, and it decides which model Ceylo downloads and runs. Until now every new install started with the same language preset and the choice sat under Advanced settings. Existing installs are asked the same question once after the update, prefilled with what they already had, and nothing changes unless you say so.

The Models page now shows what is recommended for you, one lighter option where a lighter model honestly exists, and everything else behind "Show all". Every description is a measured claim from a test with a written transcript, across English, German and one further language, on a dedicated graphics card, on built-in graphics and on the processor alone. Several of the old descriptions were not, and they are gone. Nothing was removed from the catalog: each model still downloads, still runs, and still works.

For a few languages Ceylo offers a model trained specifically for that language. When you choose such a language Ceylo suggests it, downloads it together with the general model so switching languages later costs nothing, and tells the live meeting transcript which language it is hearing instead of guessing chunk by chunk. The download screen names the real size before anything is fetched, and the app only ever downloads models from its own catalog.

What is new in Ceylo 1.3.1?

Ceylo 1.3.1 was published on 2026-08-18, a few hours after 1.3.0, with one fix for meeting transcription.

In 1.3.0, a meeting could be handled a second time as if it were a dictation once the recording finished in the background: the meeting was transcribed again and its text could be typed into whichever window had your cursor, and the background polish did not run. The saved transcript itself was correct. This is fixed: the app now remembers that a finishing recording belongs to a meeting, drops any recording it cannot place instead of guessing, and the polish runs as designed. If you use 1.3.0, take the update when it is offered.

What is new in Ceylo 1.3.0?

Ceylo 1.3.0 was published on 2026-08-18. It brings meeting transcription that is ready the moment you press Stop, mixed-language dictation that keeps each language in its own alphabet, and an app that knows which graphics device it is running on and says so.

Meeting transcripts no longer wait for the end of the meeting. The transcript Ceylo writes while the meeting runs is now the transcript: press Stop and the meeting is saved, exported and open within a second or two, instead of after a second full pass over the recording. That live transcript now uses your main speech model rather than the small one, works in short silence-cut chunks, detects the language of each chunk on its own, and removes repeated lines before anything is saved. A background "polish" pass can still refine the text afterwards. On a computer with a dedicated graphics card it starts by itself and replaces the text when it finishes; on integrated graphics or the processor alone it is offered as a button, because there it can take a long time. You can cancel it at any point, and you can keep dictating while it runs.

Switching languages mid-sentence now comes out right. Until this version, the vocabulary Ceylo hands the recognizer was wrapped in a sentence naming your transcription language, and the recognizer took that literally: speech in a second language could be written out in the letters of the first. That sentence is gone for every language. Your custom vocabulary and your field's vocabulary pack are now passed as a plain list, and nothing is sent when you have configured nothing. Your field's pack is also a choice for meetings now, with a new switch under "Your field" in Settings. It starts off for everyone, including existing installs, and your own My Terms list still applies either way.

Ceylo now checks which graphics device it has and uses the fastest one. Laptops with both an integrated and a dedicated graphics card no longer risk transcribing on the slower chip because it happened to be listed first. The Models page and Settings show a "Running on" line naming the device, the Processing setting lists the real devices on your machine, and if the graphics card cannot load the model Ceylo tells you it has moved to the processor. New installs start with a compact version of the recommended model, 574 MB instead of 1.6 GB, which was measured as the fastest of the three on graphics hardware with the same accuracy; existing installs keep the model they have. On a dedicated graphics card the model is also warmed right after loading, so the first dictation after launch is as quick as the rest.

What is new in Ceylo 1.2.0?

Ceylo 1.2.0 was published on 2026-08-16. It brings faster dictation on longer notes, custom vocabulary that is kept in full in every language, and a new choice over your field's vocabulary pack in Voice Typing.

Your field's vocabulary pack is now a choice you make for voice typing. In Settings, under "Your field", there is a new switch: "Use it for Voice Typing too". Leave it off and your own terms still apply while longer notes come back faster, measured at about twice as fast on a long note. Turn it on and the pack's vocabulary is included exactly as it was before. Meetings always get the full pack either way, so nothing about meeting transcription changes. If you are already using Ceylo the pack stays on for you; new installs start with it off.

Custom vocabulary is now kept in full in every language. Ceylo measures the recognizer's prompt in the recognizer's own tokens instead of counting characters, so the terms you added under My Terms are always kept. In many languages that are not written in the Latin alphabet, the front of that prompt could previously be dropped with no notice at all, and the front is where your own terms live. This is the change behind faster, more accurate typing by voice for anyone dictating outside English.

What is new in Ceylo 1.1.0?

Ceylo 1.1.0 was published on 2026-08-12. It brings language fixes that make voice typing dependable across keyboard layouts, stops silent recordings from typing invented filler, keeps the live meeting panel honest in a quiet room, and transcribes about twice as fast.

The biggest fixes are language fixes. On some keyboard layouts, dictated text could silently land nowhere. Voice Typing now presses the physical paste key instead of asking for a letter the layout may not have, so your words arrive on every keyboard layout alike. Dictating into silence now types nothing instead of filler words. And when Ceylo cannot confirm your text reached the window you aimed at, it tells you and keeps the transcript on your clipboard and in your library, so a dictation is never lost in silence.

Meeting transcription is cleaner too: the live panel no longer invents lines when the room goes quiet. The transcription engine was updated and runs about twice as fast on the same computer, and it now splits long stretches of speech into proper sentences.

Also in 1.1.0: if another app is holding your recording shortcut, Ceylo now tells you and offers the settings to change it. New installs start with the creativity setting at 0, the most accurate and fastest choice. The installer carries the Ceylo icon. And a failed update now explains itself in a log that survives the restart, and downloads retry on a flaky connection.

What is in Ceylo 1.0.0?

Ceylo 1.0.0 is the first paid release, published on 2026-07-30 for Windows 10/11, 64-bit. It ships Voice Typing into any Windows application, meeting transcripts that keep your microphone and the call audio on separate labeled tracks, 51 languages, six Domain Packs, and in-app updates that install over the old version without re-downloading your speech models.

Paying is what 1.0.0 added. Ceylo is sold monthly, yearly or as a one-time purchase, one license activates on up to three computers, and every new install still starts with a 14-day trial that unlocks everything. After the trial the app keeps working on a free plan: 15 dictations a month, no time limit. Meeting recording and meeting transcripts are part of the paid plan.

What did the last preview builds add before Ceylo 1.0.0?

Three product changes landed in the days before 1.0.0 and are all in it. Dictation started pasting your text in one shot instead of typing it out character by character (0.1.4, 2026-07-27). Licensing, the Account screen and the free plan after the trial arrived in 0.1.5 (2026-07-30). Meetings stopped inventing text in a quiet room in 0.1.6, published the same day.

What did the earlier Ceylo preview builds do?

Ceylo shipped seven preview builds between 2026-07-25 and 2026-07-30, before the paid launch. 0.1.0 was the first public build. 0.1.1 turned on self-update and arrived through it. 0.1.2 made the app close its transcription engines cleanly before installing an update. 0.1.3 was security hardening: stricter in-app permissions and input validation. All seven are superseded by the current release.

How does Ceylo tell you a new version is out?

Ceylo checks for a newer signed build at launch and once a day after that. When one exists a small card appears in the corner of the window, and nothing downloads until you approve it. The Account screen shows the version you are running and carries a Check for updates button. Ceylo does not keep a list of past releases inside the app, so this page is that record.
