A Wispr Flow alternative for Windows that transcribes on your own PC.
Ceylo is a Wispr Flow alternative for Windows that turns speech into text on the computer in front of you. Both apps type into any window from a hotkey. The difference is where your voice goes: Wispr Flow always transcribes in the cloud1, while Ceylo transcribes on your own PC, and transcription in Ceylo has no route off it. Ceylo's free plan gives 15 dictations a month and does not expire, and Ceylo gives each new computer 14 days of everything unlocked.

How do Ceylo and Wispr Flow compare?
The two apps share a job and differ on where they do it, what each plan includes, and how much they change your words. Each Wispr Flow cell carries a number that points to the quote it came from.

Does Wispr Flow work offline?
Wispr Flow needs a connection for every dictation, because its transcription always happens in the cloud1. Wispr Flow lets you choose whether it stores your transcripts and audio on its servers1, which settles what is kept afterwards, not where the words are recognized. Ceylo dictates with the internet off once its speech model has downloaded, and Ceylo Pro keeps working for 30 days without a connection.
Which free plan goes further?
Wispr Flow's free plan allows 2,000 words a week on desktop2, and that plan includes its Notetaker, with speaker identification and a weekly meeting limit2. Ceylo's free plan stops at 15 a month, and meetings are not part of it. Ceylo counts dictations rather than words, so a long paragraph and a two-word reply each use one. For anyone who dictates every day, or wants meetings without paying, the free plan on the other side goes further, and this page will not pretend otherwise.
What does each one cost once you pay?
Wispr Flow Pro costs $15 per user a month, or $12 a month billed annually2. Ceylo Pro costs $8 a month, $79 a year, or $149 once. The one-time option includes every 1.x update, for anyone who would rather not carry another subscription. What the money buys differs as well: Ceylo Pro removes the cap on dictations, adds meetings, and transcribes audio and video files you already have.
What happens to a meeting in each app?
Wispr Flow's Notetaker records meetings on Mac or Windows and returns a transcript with the speakers named and a summary4. Ceylo Pro records a call from your PC on two labeled tracks, You and Participants, without naming individual speakers, and Ceylo's meeting summaries are announced but not shipped yet. If a written summary of every call is what you are buying, Wispr Flow is ahead today.
Where Wispr Flow is the better choice
Wispr Flow is the stronger product for several kinds of buyer, and they should know that before installing anything:
- You dictate away from the PC as well. Wispr Flow also runs on Mac, iOS and Android2; Ceylo is Windows only.
- You want your words tidied up as you speak. Wispr Flow fixes grammar and filler words with AI5; Ceylo types what you said.
- Your team needs paperwork from its vendor. Wispr Flow is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified and offers HIPAA-ready dictation with a signed BAA2, and Wispr Flow Pro includes a shared team workspace with centralized billing and user management2. Ceylo holds no certification and has no team plan.
- You want meetings without paying. Wispr Flow's free plan includes its Notetaker, with a weekly limit2, and Ceylo's meetings are part of Pro.
- You record meetings mainly for the summary. Wispr Flow's Notetaker writes one4, and Ceylo's are not shipped yet.
- You dictate every day and would rather not pay. 2,000 free words a week on desktop2 last longer than Ceylo's monthly allowance.
Where Ceylo is the better choice
Ceylo does less, and for these buyers the difference is the reason to choose it:
- Your audio has to stay on the PC. Ceylo has no cloud transcription at all, so there is nothing to switch off.
- You dictate where the connection comes and goes. Dictation never waits on the network, and Ceylo Pro keeps working for 30 days between check-ins.
- You would rather pay once and then stop thinking about connections. Ceylo Pro is also sold once, for $149, with every 1.x update included, and Ceylo's one-time license settles at its first check-in at least 14 days after activation, and from then on keeps working offline on that computer indefinitely.
- You want to start without signing up for anything. Ceylo needs no sign-up and no password, only a one-time speech model download, before the first dictation, where Wispr Flow's download starts with a sign-in3.
Which one should you pick?
A rule that settles it in one pass:
- Pick Wispr Flow if you need the same dictation on a Mac, an iPhone or an Android phone2, AI cleanup of grammar and filler words5, meetings on a free plan2, or a vendor with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certificates and a signed BAA2.
- Pick Ceylo if your audio has to stay on the PC and you would rather pay once than keep a subscription.
- If neither line settles it, try both: each has a free plan, so the comparison costs an afternoon.
